Reconstruction

Anfield

Anfield's Spion Kop, built in 1906 as a bank of packed earth and cinder holding 25,000, open to the sky. The roof did not go on until 1928, and the bare bank here is what dates the view: it can only be from before that. A reconstruction, adapted from a period aerial photograph with the layout kept and the colour and the smoke added. Not an archive photograph.
