Passing warm-up · 20 seconds

Round the Outside

A continuous passing warm-up round a big circle, with one player in the middle and one ball. The ball starts with a player on the edge, who plays it into the middle and follows their pass in to take the middle spot. By the time they get there, the middle player has already played it out to the next player clockwise and followed that pass out to take their place on the edge. That player plays it back into the new middle player and follows it in, and it carries on round the circle. Whoever you pass to, you take their spot, so every player takes a turn on the edge and a turn in the middle. The clip shows eleven on the edge and one in the middle.

Instructions

  • Everyone on the edge of a big circle, one player in the middle, one ball
  • Start with a player on the edge: pass it into the middle, then follow your pass
  • The middle player plays it out to the next player clockwise and follows that pass out
  • Take the spot of whoever you passed to
  • The edge player plays it back into the new middle player, and round it goes
  • Firm passes, keep it moving
  • Eye contact before you pass

Variation

  • Add a second ball. Go anticlockwise. Make the circle smaller and play it quicker.
