World Cup
World Cup, which some people call One and Through. Several small teams, each one a country in its own bibs, one goal, one keeper and a server beside the goal with a pile of balls. The server feeds a ball in, everyone goes for it, and whoever wins it tries to finish. Score and your team is through to the next round and goes to wait in the box. The server feeds the next ball the moment play breaks down. The one team left that has not scored is knocked out, and the round starts again with the teams that are left. Last team standing wins the World Cup. The clip shows a whole round: a goal, a save and a rebound finish, a miss with the teams in the box letting the shooter know, the knocked-out team walking off, and the restart. Played in a penalty-area sized space or bigger with lots of balls, bibs and cones for the waiting box. Eight or more players. Loud, quick and about 15 minutes.
Instructions
- Heads up as the ball comes in, find it before anyone else
- Win it and finish fast, there is no time to dwell
- Shoot early, a shot beats a dribble in a crowd
- Pounce on rebounds, the keeper's save is still live
- Score and go straight to the waiting box
- The server feeds the next ball the moment play breaks down
- The last team without a goal is out, then restart with the teams left
Variation
- Play two teams at a time rather than everyone at once. Make it two goals to advance instead of one. Shout your country when you score. Play it in pairs, two-a-side teams rather than singles, and with big numbers let someone play as a single to make the teams work.
