Passing drill · 15 seconds
Pass, Follow and Make an Angle
A continuous passing combination down a channel. Two lines face each other, one at each end. The front player at one end passes the ball the full length to the front player at the other end, then follows the pass and runs to an angle for the return. The receiver plays a wall pass back, first time, into the angle. The runner lays the ball across in front of the receiver, who has made a forward run onto it, and that player passes it the full length back to the far end, where the same combination runs the other way. Players follow their pass and join the opposite line, so it keeps going both ways.
Instructions
- Two lines, one at each end of a channel about 20 to 30 yards long, with a marker in the middle
- Pass the full length to the front of the other line, then follow your pass and run to an angle
- The receiver plays a one-two back, first time, into the angle
- Lay the ball across into the path of the receiver, who has made a forward run onto it
- They pass it the full length back and the combination runs the other way. Join the opposite line
Variation
- Make the wall pass and the lay-off one touch. Run both ends at once with two balls. Add a passive, then an active, defender in the middle. Finish the sequence with a shot on a goal at the far end. Lengthen or shorten the channel to change the passing distance.
