Goal Keeper Wars

A goalkeeping game with no servers and no queue. Two goals face each other with a keeper in each and a supply of balls, and the two of them try to score past each other by throwing, volleying or rolling the ball into the other goal. Every single ball is a save and then a piece of accurate distribution, which is why it gets so much work into so little time. A line of cones marks the halfway, and neither keeper may cross it. Catch it and you distribute from where you saved it; if it beats you, you restart three steps from your line. First keeper to five wins, then reset and go again.

Instructions

  • Two goals facing each other, a keeper in each with a supply of balls
  • Score by throwing, volleying or rolling the ball into the other goal
  • React to the shot, do not guess, then make the save
  • Neither keeper may cross the halfway line; catch it and go from where you saved it, or restart three steps from your line if it beats you
  • Keep the distribution accurate and controlled, do not blast it; first to five wins

Variation

  • Weaker side only: throw with the weaker arm and kick with the weaker foot. Vary how you are allowed to score, throws only, then volleys, then along the ground. Play it 2 v 2 with a keeper in each goal and a partner who can field and feed on their own side, first team to three. Move the goals closer together or further apart to change the difficulty.
