A Rondo with Goals
A four against two rondo in a twelve yard square, with a small goal on each side of the square and all four of them facing in. The four outside players keep the ball moving round the edge, and the two in the middle press as a pair. The difference from an ordinary rondo is what happens on a turnover: the defenders are not just trying to win it, they are trying to win it and score, into whichever of the four goals they are closest to. That gives the two in the middle something to press for and gives the four on the outside something to lose, so the counter press is immediate rather than a jog. Score, and the defenders swap out with two of the outside players.
Instructions
- Keep it moving, always two options
- Defenders press as a pair
- Win it and score straight away
- Lose it, win it back
Variation
- Score, and the defenders swap with two outside players.
